What I've Been Up Too Lately

In between laundry, playing, changing diapers, and feeding my sweet Quinn- I've had a little time to make our house a home!

My latest sewing project - drapes for our formal dining room.  After 1 year of looking at sheets I used for drapes #sobadIknow I decided to make my own.
~ I purchased my fabric from fabric.com <my go to site for all things fabric>...P.S. always search for a promo code before buying.  I've yet to pay full price for any of my purchases!
~  Measured and cut the two pieces.  After "squaring up" <sewing jargon> I lined the fabric with fleece.
~Sewed all pieces together 2" seam on the sides and 4" seam on the top and bottom...and there you are "Drapes for a Fraction of the Cost!"
~Total cost with hardware  $190.00

I'm trying to make the switch from store bought chemical cleaners to non-toxic cleaners.  I will be honest the switch in the beginning was hard...seriously how do I keep my sink clean without bleach?  Well I found a way and without a headache...YIPPEE!!
~The spray bottle has a mixture of Vinegar, Water, and a little Blue Dawn...I spray this on my counter tops and kitchen sick.  My stainless steel sink has never looked so clean!  The vinegar is a natural super-cleaner, killing mold, bacteria, and germs.
~Seventh Generation dish soap..by far my favorite on the market.
~My latest switch; dish washing detergent...after finding some residue left on my plates I began to wonder - how much of the detergent is actually left on the plates, cups, and silverware we eat off of?!?   So after hitting pinterest I found a recipe to try.
1 cup Borax
1 cup Washing Soda
1/2 cup coarse salt
1/2 cup citric salt

For the laundry room I use Norwex detergent.  Sometimes I add Borax if the load is heavily soiled.

My absolute FAVORITE cleaning product right now are the Norwex rags!  I have the polish, enviro, kitchen, facial, and baby body rag.  They have seriously cut my cleaning time in half!  The polish rag cleans mirrors, windows, and stainless steel - best part you just wet the rags with WATER...that's all!  The Enviro rag cleans all counter tops and they will sparkle trust me :)  Here is a link to the website for a more thorough explanation on the Norwex products...Norwex
