What I've Been Up Too Lately

In between laundry, playing, changing diapers, and feeding my sweet Quinn- I've had a little time to make our house a home!

My latest sewing project - drapes for our formal dining room.  After 1 year of looking at sheets I used for drapes #sobadIknow I decided to make my own.
~ I purchased my fabric from fabric.com <my go to site for all things fabric>...P.S. always search for a promo code before buying.  I've yet to pay full price for any of my purchases!
~  Measured and cut the two pieces.  After "squaring up" <sewing jargon> I lined the fabric with fleece.
~Sewed all pieces together 2" seam on the sides and 4" seam on the top and bottom...and there you are "Drapes for a Fraction of the Cost!"
~Total cost with hardware  $190.00

I'm trying to make the switch from store bought chemical cleaners to non-toxic cleaners.  I will be honest the switch in the beginning was hard...seriously how do I keep my sink clean without bleach?  Well I found a way and without a headache...YIPPEE!!
~The spray bottle has a mixture of Vinegar, Water, and a little Blue Dawn...I spray this on my counter tops and kitchen sick.  My stainless steel sink has never looked so clean!  The vinegar is a natural super-cleaner, killing mold, bacteria, and germs.
~Seventh Generation dish soap..by far my favorite on the market.
~My latest switch; dish washing detergent...after finding some residue left on my plates I began to wonder - how much of the detergent is actually left on the plates, cups, and silverware we eat off of?!?   So after hitting pinterest I found a recipe to try.
1 cup Borax
1 cup Washing Soda
1/2 cup coarse salt
1/2 cup citric salt

For the laundry room I use Norwex detergent.  Sometimes I add Borax if the load is heavily soiled.

My absolute FAVORITE cleaning product right now are the Norwex rags!  I have the polish, enviro, kitchen, facial, and baby body rag.  They have seriously cut my cleaning time in half!  The polish rag cleans mirrors, windows, and stainless steel - best part you just wet the rags with WATER...that's all!  The Enviro rag cleans all counter tops and they will sparkle trust me :)  Here is a link to the website for a more thorough explanation on the Norwex products...Norwex

Week 11

Quinn's first hike

What up?  That hat cracks me up!

I'm afraid this kid is going to be Hell on wheels!!!

Wish my arm taste that good Quinn!

Enjoys the Moby wrap...but only facing outwards.

Playing before bathtime.

The many faces of Quinn

*the lighting in his nursery is killer...plus I could use some photography lessons!  Maybe I will look into that soon :)

I like:  Quinn loves playing with his links; those things will seriously entertain him for a good hour!  Also, he thoroughly enjoys listening to our song "brighter than the sun"  we both sing so loud and enjoy every moment!

Dislike:  Sudden loud movements really scare him...poor baby :(
Example: he pooped on Bradford and when Bradford jumped up; Quinn lost it!  Broke my heart.

Sleeping patterns: Still sleeping good through the night, but lately his naps are only 40 minutes!  I barely have time to finish breakfast or lunch and he's ready to eat again!!!  Silly boy :)

Milestones:  Jumped up to size 2 diapers!  Just gaining weight like a big boy.

Week 10

This makes mommy nervous :)

Loving life...happy baby

Listen lady stop taking my picture all the TIME!!!

My drooling little boy

Just being spoiled by Mimi and Aunt Brookie :)

This is how Quinn prefers his tummy time...

So he can watch ESPN...oh my gosh!

Rotten and I love it :)

Haha...little boys in hats just crack me up!

Quinn's shadow box I made...totally cried while putting this together.  It honeslty goes by so fast!

Enjoying 'New York Baby' his book from Uncle Chad.  One day we will do all the fun things we read about in the book :)  Can't wait.

I like: Quinn enjoys putting his fingers in his mouth...sometimes I will find he has one finger in his nose and one in his mouth!  That's talent people.

Dislike:   He doesn't really care for his bumbo lately...he prefers sitting on my lap.  Which is fine with me.  That's when we sing our songs.  "Glad it's just the two of us during the day....nobody wants to hear me sing...I rarely get the words right.  Nice thing is Quinn has no clue!!!"

Sleeping patterns: He's just a 7pm to 7am kind of boy :)

Milestones: Hand eye coordination is getting much better!

I didn't know...

  • I could love Quinn as much as I do
  • I would worry non-stop that Quinn is ok.  Seriously if there's a small red bump on his bum...I'm like Bradford it's serious lets call the doctor!  ;)
  • Breastfeeding would be such a bonding time for Quinn and I.  Granted those first 4 weeks were rough, but now we are both ol pros!  I love holding him in my arms and knowing I am giving him everything he needs.
  • My husband would take on the role of both mom and dad for a couple of weeks.  Since I had a C-section; moving out of the bed seemed like running a marathon "exhausting and painful".   I did not change a diaper until Quinn was 3 weeks old!  Bradford did EVERYTHING changed diapers, got peed and pooped on numerous times, brought Quinn to me during night feedings, rocked Quinn to sleep every night, and all with a smile.  Not only did he do everything for Quinn he would deal with my crazy postpartum self!  Looking back I'm not sure how he didn't shake me and say "Aubrey snap out of it"...I would cry over the craziest things #gladthatisover!!!
  • How important it is to surround yourself with family.   I love how the grandparents adore every move Quinn makes.  This little boy is loved and blessed!
  • Lastly, I had no clue how much I wish time would stand still...my little boy is growing so fast!
 Enjoying every moment,
Aubrey M
